ANALGESICS
Drug Treatments for Facial Neuralgias

Disclaimer.

Some other analgesics that not related to opiates have been occasionally suggested in the newsgroups. The results tend to be mixed.

Tramadol (Ultram)

Sold under trade names Ultram (US), Tramal (some parts of Europe).

A new painkiller. Effects are somewhat similar to opiates, but tramadol appears to be less addictive than traditional opiates. A special TN-related point from the MSB Bulletin: "The normal dose may need to be doubled for patients who are also taking carbamazepine."
