LIDOCAINE CREAM Formal informationSold in some countries under the trade name Emla. Anecdotal informationThis is unofficial and anecdotal information. Lidocaine cream has apparently been used to treat post-herpetic pain, but usually in the back or other parts of the body. The cream may numb the nerves close to the skin. Whether it is useful for TN, in which the affected nerve is often deeper inside, is unclear. It may have some effect for atypical forms of TN.
