FACIAL NEURALGIA
EXPRESS YOURSELF
Disclaimer.
Human beings are
resourceful souls and find ways to cope with the most difficult of situations. People who
are suffering with facial pain disorders find amazing and wonderful ways to deal with
their very painful conditions. We can write, we can sing, we can draw, we can
sculpt. We all have ways that help us through days of never-ending pain. And
if the pain leaves, the emotional upheaval remains.
This small corner of
cyberspace is for people with facial neuralgia's, their families and friends to share
their words, pictures, songs with the rest of our facial neuralgia community.
We do not mean to offend
anyone. Humor is one way to deal with the terror of TN. Not everyone likes this approach,
however. If you fear you may be offended, please read no further

A Window on the Mind
EDITOR'S NOTE: Unfortunately, A Window on the Mind is offline
temporarily as of July 8, 2001.
One of the best places on the Internet, A Window on the Mind is sponsored
by the Neurology Department of Massachusetts General Hospital. The best way to describe it
is in the words of John Lester, the webmaster and creator of this wonderful virtual spot
in cyberspace that blends poetry with neurological disorders in order to gain insight into
how human beings cope with pain.
For people with neurological disorders, it can be
incredibly frustrating trying to explain to other people "what it's like in my
mind." The same can be said for people who are close to or caring for people with
neurological disorders. It is often impossible to put these feelings into clinically
descriptive words. Poetry offers a unique "window" into a person's
mind...allowing them to express feelings and relationships in a completely creative way.
By encouraging both patients and the people close to them to write poetry describing their
unique experiences and feelings, I believe we can learn a great deal about how people cope
with these disorders. By sharing this poetry with others, one can truly open "A
Window on my Mind." - John Lester
